Gurbaag and Karni wanted to replace their old garage with something that would completely change the way they used their garden. The result is a bespoke garden room that gives them flexible extra space for work, relaxing and everyday life.

What they wanted to achieve

Gurbaag and Karni had an old garage that was no longer making the best use of their garden. They wanted to replace it with a modern, versatile room that looked as good as it was practical.

They also wanted one team to manage the whole project, including removing the existing garage and its asbestos roof, preparing the site and creating the finished room.

Creating the right solution

We designed a bespoke garden room that made better use of the available footprint while creating a real feature in the garden.

A galvanised steel frame and insulated SIPs formed the main structure, finished with striking Shou Sugi Ban cladding and warm cedar detailing. Bifold doors and a lantern rooflight bring natural light into the room, while our team took care of everything from the initial groundwork through to the internal finish.

The finished space

The transformation is striking. Outside, the dark timber and cedar detailing give the garden room its distinctive character. Inside, the space feels bright, contemporary and welcoming.

Fully plastered and painted walls and ceilings, flooring, lighting, heating and ventilation meant the room was ready to enjoy, giving Gurbaag and Karni a flexible new space they can use in different ways for years to come.
